The Platform for an Africa-Europe Partnership for Agricultural Research for Development (PAEPARD) was launched in 2009 by the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa with funding from the European Commission. WRENmedia began working with PAEPARD’s publications team in March 2016 and has since:
Edited and restructured a 76-page brokerage document and condensed the key messages into an eight-page policy brief, Facilitating innovation in agricultural research for development: Brokerage as the vital link, for the Global Conference on Agricultural Research for Development on 5-8 April 2016 in South Africa.
Edited a French publication on PAEPARD multi-stakeholder consultations and translated the document into English for synthesis into a short policy brief, Inclusive, balanced, demand-led partnerships for ARD: A consultative process.
Edited and restructured reports on Appraising the participation of European partners in the PAEPARD Users-Led Process and The journey from an information platform to a knowledge management system, transforming the latter into a five-page policy brief with key recommendations.
Capitalising on experience
In October 2017, WRENmedia was asked to attend a four-day PAEPARD Capitalization Workshop in Cotonou, Benin, to pull together the key lessons learned and recommendations discussed by participants from their experiences of the 24 multi-stakeholder consortia. We were tasked with the synthesis of workshop outcomes into a seven-page policy brief, Capitalizing on PAEPARD experience of multi-stakeholder partnerships in agricultural research for development, which was to be presented at the African Union-European Union High Level Policy Dialogue two weeks later. The policy brief was designed to showcase both the opportunities and challenges that multi-stakeholder partnerships between European and African organisations present for agricultural research for development, as well as offer recommendations for a potential next phase of PAEPARD.
